Heritage Weekend: WV History Alive! Abigail Adams

Wife to the second president of the United States and mother to the sixth, Abigail Adams was a witness to the birth of the nation. As the first First Lady to reside in the White House, she took an active role in politics and policy as a voice against slavery and an advocate for women’s education and property rights.

If particular care and attention is not paid to the Ladies we are determined to foment a Rebellion and will not hold ourselves bound by any Laws in which we have no voice or Representation.”
